Stephen Jones competition

www.talenthouse.com
Victoria & Albert Museum
Stephen Jones
Bard Graduate Centre NY

All the above have got together along with Vogue.com to launch a competition for a milliner to be chosen by Stephen Jones and Vogue to exhibit in his forthcoming New York exhibition in the Bard Centre. Its a fantastic idea and really has brought some incredible designs in millinery to the forefront as you will see if you visit the talenthouse site. It is also being run as a voting competition which is not the most pleasant of things for someone not renowned for pushing herself forward! So if you would like to support me the image above is my entry and you need to vote through talenthouse site or you can text.

Hat Works

Lynne Young

Spent a few hours at Hat Works on Tuesday to say farewell to Hannah the curator who is leaving to follow her passion for Victorian Paintings at Manchester Art Gallery, quite sad, and also to look at the exhibition from the competition that we devised together. It is a beautiful exhibition well worth a visit, laid out perfectly and shows a full range of the potential that can be garnered from millinery skills on such a small scale and with a wealth of enthusiasm. The amateur work did seem to shine more than the professional pieces, it made me feel very happy for the successes that had been achieved.

5th May Judging the Revivals Schools Hat Competition with Natalie Raw of Leeds Discovery Centre, Kevin Almond of Huddersfield University and Sherelle Davison. There were over 50 entrants and a lot of work to go through. It was to a really high standard and a good range of ideas and techniques. many had used the techniques we had worked through in the workshops and built on these ideas, which was encouraging. At the end of the morning we had no idea who had won, as the judging of the Wiki site still had to be completed, results announced in june.
