End of an Exhibition

I have written little on this blog about my work at Hat Works as Guest Curator, due to a variety of reasons. This began when on my MA helping out answering research questions and being an extra pair of hands, then led to a project for my final course work to curate an exhibition on Trimmings for millinery. It was a fantastic experience so as it all comes to be taken down before the next one is put up it was a good time to reflect on what I had managed, with that fear that i wouldn't be able to do as good a job next time.

Stephen Jones competition - Judging

Well they finally announced the winning hat to be exhibited alongside the V&A hats in Nee York in Stephen Jones The Anthology exhibition and it was the beautiful dandelion hat which I had a hunch as it was so unique and perfectly balanced. But the greatest thrill was discovering that the gorgeous Miss Kate Jones, Leeds milliner and fashion designer (originally of wonderful North Wales) was one of the three finalists with her truly stunning wooden piece, brilliant news and well deserved.

There were some fantastic creations so it must have been a tough job selecting, great to see so many inspiring milliners from around the world.

That Wedding

Realised that as a milliner I can't really pass by and not mention the hats that flew around the world a little more than a week ago. I think the British milliners did a wonderful job showing how creative and talented they are and the depth of skill within the UK. I wish Mrs Cameron had supported them and thought that Mrs Clegg looked amazing.
